FOLLOW UP ON MY COMMENTS REGARDING STUDENT LOANS

By John R Hernandez@NDMH-2015

“According to news reports Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson has introduced a new bill to help students suffering with school loan debt. She said that, ‘Congress must also do its part to ensure students have access to affordable, quality education. That is why I introduced the Student Loan Borrowers’ Bill of Rights. This bill brings fairness to our system of financing higher education at a time when Americans owe approximately $1.2 trillion in student loans. It restores bankruptcy protections for federal and private student loans, establishes a statute of limitations on student loan debt collection, creates new protections against discrimination in professional licensing, and prohibits the garnishment of wages, tax refunds, and Social Security benefits.’

Smartest move by a congress member in quite some time. Sad that so many students in the past 10 years have had to suffer so much as a result of the governments inactivity on this part. We will for sure be keeping an eye out to see where this all leads! Thanks to Congresswoman Wilson for taking the first step to right the wrongs government has created by ignoring legislation like this in the past!” JRH-2015 NDMH
